The Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei has lashed out at the players of Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the poor performance after the team lost to Asokwa Deportivo in the MTN FA Cup round of 64 stage.
After the game, the players were booed and insulted by the fans when they were entering the bus.
Yesterday, Dr. Kyei met with the players and the technical staff and told them what was on his mind.
He threatened to dissolve the team and told the players to hand in their letters if they do not want to play for the club again.
“We are not going to beg anyone again,” he said, “if I knew you were going to play this way, I would not have let you go,” he added.
Dr. Kyei was so furious they lost to Deportivo and said the owner of Deportivo, Camarat spends less than ₵100 on the players, gives them porridge and encourages them to play well and get a contract outside the country.
According to the report, Dr. Kyei was so furious he left the Emergency Meeting and banged the door.
After Kotoko lost to Berekum Chelsea in Kumasi, the team has lost to Medeama and drew against WAFA and Liberty. However, the worst of it all was when Kotoko lost to Aduana at Dormaa in a game in which they started and played the entire first 45 minutes with 10 men.
