The Black Queens of Ghana has beaten Algeria in the opening game of the African Women Cup of Nations.
The Queens scored the goal in the 13th minute from a Gladys Amfobea’s strike from 20-yards.
Ghana created more chances in the first half but the Algerian goalkeeper, Takenint was in an excellent form to save her side from conceding more goals.
Samira Suleimana missed the chances that came her way and was replaced in the second half with Jane Ayieyam.
Ayieyam change could have given the Black Queens a two-goal lead, however, her goal was ruled offside.
Ghana will play Mali on Tuesday for their second game while Algeria plays Cameroon.
