The Baba Yara Sports Stadium will undergo a renovation later this year. The Baba Yara Sports Stadium, formerly called Kumasi Sports Stadium was built in 1959 and the first stand was built in 1971. It underwent a renovation before the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ghana in 2008 after which it was named after Kotoko’s legend, Baba Yara.
The renovation was delayed due to Kotoko’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup and it will now be postponed due to the Normalisation’s Committee’s Special Cup which will start on Saturday.
The pitch at the stadium saw a massive improvement after CAF told Kotoko to improve the grass or else they will not be allowed to play their matches there.
The tartan tracks, the pitch among other things will be improved when the renovation is done.
