Chelsea FC would have been the happiest club in the world if Madrid had announced Antonio Conte as their new coach last night.
Had Conte and Madrid strike a deal, Chelsea would have finally gotten Conte off their books as the club pays him £ 9, 000, 000 a year after he was sacked by the club.
Per the contract between Chelsea and Conte, the club will stop paying him as soon as he starts working.
Apart from that, the London club would have taken advantage of his move to Real Madrid to finally convince their star man, Eden Hazard to sign a new contract.
Hazard has made it clear the only club he wants to play for if he leaves Stanford Bridge is Real Madrid, therefore, had Conte’s move to Madrid been finalized last night, Hazard would have no choice than to stay at Chelsea as they pair are unlikely to work together again.
Florentino Perez now has 14-days to find a new coach for Madrid after sacking Julen Lopetegui last night.
However, should Madrid work things out with Conte and appoint him as their new coach, Chelsea FC will become the happiest club on earth.
