Fiorentina forward, Kevin Prince Boateng has talked to the BBC about his career and how he felt when he was told he was going to Barcelona.
Boateng told the BBC that before he joined Las Palmas, he “didn’t have a team.”
“No team wanted me,” he told the BBC, “no team was interested in me.”
Boateng said that after his second stint with AC Milan, his manager called him and asked him if he wanted to go to a bigger team.
His manager, he explained told him they “will have to take steps back and then you can do some steps forward.”
“These steps back brought me to win the cup in Germany with Frankfurt. Playing an amazing season in the Bundesliga. Coming to Italy with Sassuolo, working with De Zerbi like for me one of the greatest coaches I ever had, going to Barcelona, having the chance to play alongside the best players in the world again.”
“These steps back brought me to something what I thought maybe will not even achieve anymore because I was getting old.”
Boateng had an incredible season at Las Palmas and he told the BBC that joining Las Palmas was one of the best years in his career although no one would have believed years ago that he would one day join Las Palmas.
