Apart from the ban the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has placed on Asante Kotoko from signing players and the price Medeama SC reportedly wants for Justice Blay, there is a new report that Blay’s age is a problem for the club.
According to the report, Kotoko is currently comparing him to former Ashanti Gold SC midfielder, James Akaminko who is currently a free agent and also younger.
Blay is 28-years old and Medeama SC want between $50, 000 to $100, 000 plus 30% onward sale fee from Kotoko.
Kotoko, according to the report, believe it would be difficult to sell him in the future, therefore, should Medeama refuse to reduce their price they will not sign him.
Akaminko, on the other hand, is 24-years and a free agent, as a result, should he sign for Kotoko, they can sell him in the future.
Kotoko, since the announcement of a new Board has indicated that one of the new directions the club will be taken is to sign young players and this direction puts Akaminko ahead of Blay.
Blay impressed the fans and management of the club during his one-year loan deal with Kotoko. Since the end of his loan deal, he has openly stated his admiration for the club and also made it clear he wants to stay in Kumasi.
Akaminko has also reportedly stated that he wants to play for Kotoko but he reportedly also interested in an offer he has received from a foreign club.
