Burna Boy, the Nigerian artiste whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, recently revealed that he had aspirations of becoming a footballer and was a goalkeeper during his childhood. In an interview with CBS, he expressed how conceding a goal would deeply affect him emotionally.
Describing his skills as a goalkeeper, Burna Boy admitted that he wasn’t the type of player who would have been allowed to participate in professional games. He shared that he disliked it when the opposing team scored, as it would hurt his feelings.
Although Burna Boy didn’t achieve his childhood dream of becoming a footballer, he found a way to fill football venues in a different capacity. He highlighted his success in attracting large crowds to watch his performances, stating, “I didn’t make it playing football, but I made it to fill the football venue. I found a way.”
Burna Boy’s achievements in the music industry are notable. He recently performed at the opening ceremony of the 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League final held at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul. With numerous record-breaking concerts and impressive streaming numbers, he is currently recognized as one of the top African musicians and a Grammy Award winner.
