The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stripped Cameroon of hosting the 2019 African Cup of Nations after a meeting that lasted for over 8 hours in Accra, Ghana.
The decision to strip Cameroon of hosting the tournament is due to the delays in their preparation.
CAF president, Ahmad Ahmad after the decision was taken said it will work to “determine a new organizing country by the end of the year.”

Before the announcement was made, there were unconfirmed reports that CAF will strip Cameroon of the hosting right and a North African country will host next year’s tournament.
Although Amaju Pinnick who is CAF’s Nations Cup Organising Committee chairman said in August this year that “nobody is going to take it away from Cameroon”, Ahmad had said earlier that Cameroon needed “to convince CAF of its ability” host the tournament.
As at now, the only country expected to bid for the hosting right is Morocco after failing to get the opportunity to host the World Cup in 2026.
