The President has with immediate effect sacked the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mrs Charlotte Osei and her two deputies Mr Amadu Sulley and Ms Georgina Opoku Amankwah.
In a press release from the presidency, it indicated that the decision was taken after the Committee set up by the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, recommended their removal on the ‘basis of stated misbehaviour and incompetence, pursuant to Article 146(1) of the Constitution’.
‘The provisions of the Article 146(9) of the Constitution’ gives the President the power to act in accordance with recommendations of the Committee.
