After Kotoko’s game with Bechem United last Sunday at Bechem, it was announced that a journalist of High Radio, Selassie Osman was beaten two days before the game for attempting to bribe Seth Sowah of Bechem United.
The Head of Sports of the station, Edward Owusu popularly called Acapella told Kessben FM that he got a call from his “Deputy Head of Sports that Selassie has been beaten and arrested for attempting to bribe a player of Bechem United.”
“When we went to the Bechem police station we found out it was true as there were a lot of people there.”
“I called the General Manager of the station who is also the host of our morning show and also a pastor and informed him of the situation.”
Acapella added that he called other workers of the station and they met at the police station.
According to him, the information they got is that Selassie had told Sowah, who wears the jersey number 4 that
“Kotoko has expressed interest in him so he should play a bad game for Kotoko to win the match. Afterwards, Kotoko will send him money and he will give him his share.”
Sowah, according to Acapella told his team manager who also told him to agree to the deal and meet with Selassie but “he should inform him of their meeting place.”
Acapella said his “guyman told him when they met he gave his phone to the Bechem United player. The player got up and started running and at that moment he saw the team manager and some people surrounding him.”
He also revealed that the land they met on belonged to the team manager.
Selassie was beaten before he was taken to the police station.
However, Acapella said Selassie told him “No Kotoko management member told him to do that. Also, he gave him his phone because the player wanted to listen to an interview he had with him.”
Sowah and Bechem United’s team manager, on the other hand, told Acapella that “Selassie gave him the phone to talk to the Kotoko management member.”
Acapella went on to reveal that Selassie had already told him about the said interview but he told him not to do it but Selassie told him he is doing the interview for a radio station in Accra.
Selassie, today said on Kessben FM that he interviewed Sowah and other players of the club after which they took his number as they wanted him to send them the interview.
Selassie added that he met with Sowah to play the interview to him as he “did not have a bundle to send it.”
“No Kotoko management member came to see me,” he said to deny the allegation after also revealing he “was stripped half naked when he was beaten.”
He indicated that he has been to the hospital as he bleeds when he coughs and has also reported the incident to the police.
Also, he confirmed on Kessben FM that his father, siblings and cousin who are soldiers have vowed to take revenge.
