Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Ghana national football team, expressed his disappointment following a goalless draw against Madagascar. The match, which took place on Sunday, June 18, was the penultimate qualifier for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
During his post-match interview, Coach Chris Hughton emphasized his frustration with the team’s inability to score a single goal. He stated, “We are very disappointed. We came here with the mindset and determination to win. Scoring goals is crucial in winning a football match. We struggled in this aspect and needed to be more assertive in creating opportunities to score.”
Hughton acknowledged that the team’s failure to find the back of the net was the most disappointing aspect of the game. The draw against Madagascar has postponed Ghana’s qualification for the 2023 AFCON.
To secure their place in the tournament, the Black Stars must defeat the Central African Republic in September. The team will aim to bounce back from the recent setback and deliver a winning performance to secure their spot in the 2023 AFCON.
