General Manager of Asante Kotoko, Nana Gyambibi Coker has confirmed that the club’s Executive Chairman, Dr Kwame Kyei has single-handedly footed the bills of the club following the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus.
It is understood that all Football activities in the country have been halted indefinitely due to the outbreak of the deadly virus that has wrecked the world.
In spite of that, the Kumasi based club sponsor MTN suspended all financial obligations with immediate effect.
Footballghana.com understands that there is a clause in their sponsorship agreement that allows a suspension of the obligations in the event of a force majeure- in this case, the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking in an interview with Light FM, Nana Coker confirmed that Dr Kwame Kyei has for the past six months paid players, technical staff, and others despite sponsorship crisis in the wake of Coronavirus.
“Dr.Kwame Kyei has single-handedly taken up the mantle over the past 6 months in paying off the playing body, technical, administrative, and other staff of the club since most sponsorship money aren’t coming particularly that of MTN and Goil,” he said.
