The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of failing to do an investigation into the electoral malpractices that occurred during the referendum on the creation of new regions last year.
After the election, a video went viral on social media in which an alleged worker of the Electoral Commission was seen voting Yes on a number of ballot papers at an unidentified polling station. Last week, the EC in a press conference said they have done an investigation into the incident and found out that the person in the video was not their worker.
Asiedu Nketiah said on Angel FM that he does not believe the EC did an investigation but if so they should release the full report for Ghanaians to know.
Areas that voted for the creation of the new regions voted massively for the YES option.
The referendum led to the creation of six new regions out of four of the already existing 10 regions.
