Esperance Sportive de Tunis has beaten 8 times CAF Champions League champions 3-0 to win the Champions League for the third time in their history.
Esperance lost 3-1 in the first league in Egypt but was able to turn the table to win the second leg on home soil.
Saad Bguir opened the scoring in the first half in the 45th minute. Early in the second half, Bguir made it two with a fine header as he was left unmarked in the Al Ahly 18-yard box.
And in the 87th minute, Anice Badri broke the hearts of Al Ahly fans with a fantastic strike into the left corner of Al Ahly’s goal post to make it 4-3 on aggregate.
Esperance dominated the game and had 13 shots while the 8 times African Champions managed only 1 shot which was not even on target.
Esperance has joined Zamalek, Hafia FC, Raja Casablanca and Canon Yaounde as three times winners.
The new African Champions will now represent Africa at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
