In a tragic incident at Adankwame in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region, a 35-year-old landlord identified as Emmanuel has allegedly butchered a family of three with a machete, leaving one dead.
According to reports, Emmanuel killed one and a half year old Samuel Amo and inflicted multiple machete wounds on the father and sibling of the deceased, Mr. Obed Asamoah and Bridget Owusu, 19.
Janet Owusua, the mother of the deceased, shared the heartbreaking story in an interview with OTEC News Jacob Agyenim Boateng, stating that the incident occurred on Friday, May 5, 2023.
She explained that her husband had just returned from work when the suspect confronted him and demanded that they pack out of the house. Before her husband could reply, the suspect attacked both the child and his father and began butchering them. Her 19-year-old daughter rushed to pick up the little boy who had fallen on the ground after the attack, but she was also butchered in the process.
Janet Owusua went out in desperation for help, but the boy was already dead by the time she returned with people at the scene. Both her daughter and husband were battling for their lives and were rushed to the emergency ward of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, the boy was confirmed dead.
The suspect went into hiding after committing the crime but was later found and arrested by some residents in the area after confessing his crime to a local pastor. Emmanuel is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations into the incident.
