The CEO of Obuasi Ashanti Gold SC and sports journalist, Fredrick “Achie” Acheampong has revealed he did not plan to contest for a position in the
Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council board.
Achie after being voted onto the board said he “discussed” it with his family after he was told to contest and they gave him the go-ahead.
“I did not plan to contest, the football people told me to contest,” he said, “I discussed it with my godfathers in football and they all gave me the go ahead.”
“The core object of the GFA is football” so the most important thing is how to start the Ghana Premier League and “fortunately that is my area”, he added, “as that is what I have learnt at CAF.”
His work at CAF, he explained is about match organization so he will be able to help the new FA help start the Premier League after which they will look at the other leagues.
