Former Ghana international, Robert Eshun, known as Ebo Electric, has tragically passed away at the age of 49. The football community mourns his loss as he died on Monday, October 23, after suffering a heart attack while driving to work.
Eshun is fondly remembered for his memorable goal in the final of the 1990 FA Cup. He was a pivotal part of Asante Kotoko’s African Championship squad and was renowned for his contributions to the team.
His exceptional performances did not go unnoticed by European clubs, who expressed a keen interest in signing the young talent following his outstanding display for Ghana during a U-21 AFCON qualifiers tournament in Egypt.
Eshun began his career at Asante Kotoko before venturing to Belgium, where he played for clubs such as Turnhout, Tielen, and Lommel in the early nineties. He also made a mark in the Turkish Super Lig, representing Gaziantep, and later continued his football journey with Sarawak in Malaysia.
Throughout his active football career, Eshun’s extraordinary dribbling skills often left opponents and fans alike in awe. His untimely passing is a great loss to the football community, and he will be remembered for his contributions to the sport.
