Comedian Benson Nana Yaw Oduro, widely known as Funny Face, has been remanded into police custody for a period of two weeks by the Ofaakor Circuit Court in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region.
This decision by the court comes after Funny Face appeared before it facing charges of drunk driving and careless driving stemming from an incident that occurred on Sunday evening.
Reports indicate that the comedian was arrested following an altercation where his vehicle allegedly collided with a group of individuals at Kasoa Kakraba, resulting in injuries to five people.
As per the court’s ruling, Funny Face will remain in police custody for the specified duration pending further legal proceedings.
Regarding the accident, Funny Face was involved in a serious collision at Kasoa in the Central Region. He reportedly struck five individuals at a location known as Kakraba Junction. Among the victims were a mother and her two children, as well as two other motorcyclists who were hit following the impact.
On March 24, 2024, reports suggested that Funny Face was driving under the influence of alcohol and at excessive speed, contributing to the incident.
Footage shared by Accra-based UTV from the scene depicted Funny Face being escorted away while onlookers surrounded the vehicle he was purportedly driving.
In addition to the legal troubles, Funny Face has been entangled in a tumultuous relationship issue with his baby mama in recent years, leading to a court ordering him to undergo psychological evaluation. He has also openly discussed his battles with depression.
In recent social media posts, Funny Face has directed harsh accusations towards his baby mama, alleging her involvement in a plot to permanently separate him from their three children.
