Although there are task forces in the area, the residents believe the reason why nothing has been done about the activity is because some of the leaders in the area are behind the activities.
According to the residents, petition has been sent to their authorities yet no action has been taken.
Wasa Dwabo, Wasa Sraha and Wasa Ayiam are the areas where Chinese citizens with protection from Ghanaian soldiers are doing the illegal activity.
Reports from the area indicated that, one illegal miner lost his life at Wasa Sraha.
A Unit Committee member of the area last week told Fox FM in Kumasi that some people believe the NPP Regional Chairman in Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman One has Chinese people working in the area.
Residents are calling on the government to intervene as this activity is destroying their land.
