Germany secured their first-ever FIFA U17 World Cup title by defeating France in a thrilling final that ended in a penalty shootout. The match, held at Manahan Stadium in Jakarta, witnessed Borussia Dortmund’s Paris Brunner opening the scoring with a penalty kick, followed by a goal from team captain Noah Darvich, recently transferred to Barcelona from Freiburg.
France made a comeback with goals from Saïmon Bouabré and Mathis Amougou, leveling the scores late in the game. With no further goals in regular time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Germany’s Robert Ramsak, Max Moerstadt, Fayssal Harchaoui, and Almugera Kabar successfully converted their penalties, securing a 4-3 victory. This triumph added the world title to the European championship they claimed at the U17 level in June.
