The saying “Ghana is not worth dying for” is always heard whenever someone does not get something he or she was expecting the country to do.
However, the former President Jerry John Rawlings has come out to say that “Ghana is worth dying for”.
He made the comments after Cardinal Mills, the brother of the late President, Prof Evans Attah Mills came out to say the opposite after seeing his brother’s grave at the Asomdwe Park in Accra.
Images of the burial site of the late President showed the place has not been well kept.
Rawlings said the images of the site of the late President is ‘just unfortunate’ and that ‘Ghana will always be worth dying for’.
“Ghanaians are great people, I have always said so”, the formal dictator said.
The family of the late President have been complaining about the state of the site of where Atta-Mills was buried.
The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho last month added his voice to how bad the site has been kept.
“I am willing to manage the Asodwe Park if it is given to me by the government. If the state has diverted its interest, then we will take it on, and we will know that it’s our responsibility, but when the state has the responsibility, then I think we should allow the state to carry out its responsibility”, he said on 3FM in Accra.
The Asomdwe Park, some believe can serve as a tourist attraction and so the government should do something about the state of the park.
