The Black Stars of Ghana has booked their place to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar after eliminating the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Ghana qaulified for the tournament on away goal rule after the game ended one all.
Ghana scored the first goal through Thomas Partey in the 10 minutes after the Nigerian goalkeeper failed to catch low shot from the Arsenal midfielder.
Just like the first leg in Kumasi, the VAR was used in this game as well to decided on a penalty.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman was brought down by Denis Odoi in Ghana’s 18-yard box but the Tunisian overlooked. However, after the VAR was checked, the referee awarded a penalty to Nigeria and William Troost-Ekong made it one all.
The VAR was used again after Victor Osimhen made it two for Nigeria but the VAR showed that he was in an offside position.
Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen brought on Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo to make their attackers in the game six but they still could not creat any chance.
The Nigerians dominated the game with over 60% of the possession but they could not find the back of the net.
The two countries have not played 58 games. Ghana has won 25 times, 12 wins for Nigeria and 21 draws.
