Ghana football legend, Rev Osei Kofi has stated he believes Ghana would have performed better had we qualified.
‘The North Africans countries dominate African Cup Nations and Club football like the Confederations Cup but when we go to the World stage they do not perform well’, he said.
‘The atmosphere at the World Cup is different from the club system that why they cannot perform well’, he added.
The former Asante Kotoko attacker made reference to Ghana’s previous World Cup performances.
He said in an interview with ABN Ghana that ‘when Germany won the World Cup in 2014, they beat all the opponents including host nation Brazil but could not beat Ghana’.
‘Had we played well and qualified, we would have done well’.
Also, he believes FIFA should maintain the 32 teams that qualify for the World Cup so as to maintain the competitive level in the game.
He could not tip any country to win the tournament as he believes it is too early to predict the winner for Russia 2018 and expects an underdog to perform better.
