Girl becomes paralyzed, blind, deaf and dumb after a doctor cut all the veins connected to her brain during an operation

A 4-year old girl (name withheld) has lost her sight and has also become paralyzed after a doctor reportedly cut all the veins connected to her brain during an operation.

Narrating how she became blind and paralyzed on Angel FM, the mother of the girl said her daughter had a boil at the back of her head and she took her to Anglo-Gold Ashanti Hospital at Obuasi after she had been told by the hospital they will have to do an operation to remove it.

According to the mother who indicated she is an Ice Cream seller, she was told to pay ‘¢ 500 so that they can do the operation on Monday.’

On the day of the operation, her husband, her brother-in-law accompanied her and her daughter to the hospital. They were directed to put the young girl on a stretcher so that they can take her to the theatre after paying the ¢ 500. She was told ‘her daughter’s blood group is B+ so she should go to the lab and collect a blood.’ The blood, she said was given to a nurse who took it to the theatre.

’Fifteen minutes later I was told to go and get another blood but the nurse came and went for it.’

‘At 4:30 pm they brought the child out but she was covered. She was shaking and crying.’

‘I asked the nurse why my daughter is shaking and she told me it is because of the drug they have given.’

‘She will be alright,’ she was told.

‘At 9 pm a nurse came, sat beside me and put her hand around me. The doctor came and stood in front of me and told my daughter has lost a lot of blood as there is a problem with one of the veins on her neck so I should pay ¢500 for an ambulance to take her to Gee [ Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital ].’

According to her, she had only ¢1.50 in her purse at that time so told the doctor she had no money.

They were later told an ambulance will soon come and take them to Komfo Anokye, however, the ambulance came at 1:30 am and they reached Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital at 3:30 am.

After an X-Ray was taken, they were told that ‘the doctor had cut all the veins that are connected to the child’s brain so the child is now paralyzed.’

The 4-year old girl, according to the mother, is now blind, deaf, and dumb, paralyzed and eats through a tube connected to her stomach.
