The Ministry of Interior has imposed a curfew on Binduri Township and its environs in the Upper East Region.
The curfew starts from from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am effective Monday, March 24, 2025.
The statement announcing the curfew urged the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, and Youth to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.
The statement read “The Minister for the Interior on the advice of the Upper East and North East Regional Security Councils and by Executive Instrument imposed Curfew on Binduri Township and its environs in the Upper East Region from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am effective Monday, March 24, 2025.
Government urges chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.
Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Binduri Township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons, men wearing of smock, riding motorbikes and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted”.
