In a thrilling encounter on Sunday afternoon, Hearts of Oak staged a remarkable comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over Nsoatreman FC in match week 19 of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
The win propels the Phobians from 10th position to seventh in the league standings, amassing a total of 27 points. However, they still trail the league leaders, Smartex, by eight points, who have a game in hand.
This triumph marks the second consecutive win for Hearts of Oak under the guidance of their new manager, Aboubakar Ouattara.
On the other hand, Maxwell Konadu’s Nsoatreman side experienced a slight dip in form, dropping from third to fourth place with 30 points.
The home team, Nsoatreman FC, took the lead through Walid Fuseini’s goal just 24 minutes into the game, with Hearts of Oak conceding what they might consider a disappointing goal from a defensive standpoint.
However, Hearts of Oak responded swiftly after the break, as Salisu Ibrahim found the back of the net to level the scoreline at 1-1 just five minutes into the second half.
The Ivorian forward, Kassim Cisse, sealed the victory for the Phobians with a decisive goal eleven minutes after equalizing, securing all three points for his team.
Looking ahead, Nsoatreman FC is scheduled to face Dreams FC on Wednesday, March 6, at the Nana Kromansah Park in match week 20 of the Ghana Premier League.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak will square off against Bofoakwa Tano on the same day at the Accra Sports Stadium, aiming to build on their recent success and climb further up the league table.
The win is Hearts of Oak’s first away win outside the Accra Sports Stadium as all the away games they won last year were against teams that play at the stadium.
