Emmanuel Gyamfi, a forward for Aduana Stars, has been penalized for an on-field altercation during a Premier League match against Asante Kotoko. He was caught on camera stamping on the opposing team’s goalkeeper, Fred Asare, during the game in Dormaa.
Gyamfi, who used to play for Asante Kotoko, issued an apology after the match and claimed that Asare had done the same thing to him during the game. However, his actions resulted in a 5-match ban and a fine of GH₵ 2000.
This is not the first time that Gyamfi has faced disciplinary action for violent conduct on the pitch. In 2021, while playing for Asante Kotoko, he was banned for one game and fined GH₵ 1000 for stamping Inter Allies player Andy Okpe.
Such behavior on the field of play goes against the values of fair play and sportsmanship and it is important for all players to uphold these principles for the sake of the game and their fellow players.
