The CEO of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has called on the fans of the club to be patient with the team this season.
During Nana Yaw’s Time with the CEO on the streaming platform Ceek, he stated that 16 players of their squad are new, therefore, they would need time to adapt to the club’s philosophy.
Adding, he indicated that he ‘loves the harmony in camp’ as ‘both the old and new players are happy.’
‘When you walk into the team you won’t know who’s an old player and who’s a new player.’
Explaining why the club had to sign sixteen new players, Nana Yaw said they had to let three goalkeepers sit on the bench last season at a point in time as they had only thirteen players available. Therefore, they signed more players in other not to encounter such a problem.
He also added that they did not just sign any player, they signed players who would compete for a place in the team.
Five out of the sixteen players are below the age of nineteen.
He defended the club’s decision to sign young players as they need to blend the old and young players to help the team win games.
He mentioned Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Pele and other legendary players who carried their team on their shoulders when they were teenagers.
