Defending champions Hearts of Oak extended their search for a first league this term after throwing away a lead to draw 1-1 with Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 14 November 2021.
The Phobians had finish the last ten minutes of the match with ten men after defender Mohammed Alhassan was sent off for a tackle which resulted in a penalty for the visitors.
Striker Bright Adjei-adjudged Man of the Match- stepped up and sent goalkeeper Richard Baidoo the wrong way for the equalizer in the 80th minute.
Hearts of Oak took the lead in the 10th minute when burly striker Kofi Kodzi drilled home from close range after collecting a through pass from Salifu Ibrahim inside the box.
Minutes later, Kodzi was fouled cynically close to the box after tearing away from his marker Thomas Boateng who picked up a yellow for the tackle.
The resultant free-kick was skied over the frame by winger Ibrahim.
Aduana made a promising move in a counter attack spearheaded by Emmanuel Gyamfi who drew a free-kick after being brought down by Mohammed Alhassan.
Kofi Adom Frimpong-a new signing from Asante Kotoko-later delivered a poor kick.
On 22 minutes, Frederick Ansah Botchway came close to doubling Hearts’ lead but his curled ball from the edge of the box was off target.
Just after the half hour mark, Aduana stars with an incursion into the area of Hearts of oak but Baidoo seem to be ready at all times.
Hearts returned from the break on the front foot and kept piling the pressure on the visitors.
Aduana Stars fired the warning courtesy Adjei who made an audacious connection from inside the box but it was off target.
Goalkeeper Addo produced a point-blank save to deny Kodzi who struck from close range in the 62nd minute.
Before the last quarter of an hour, Emmanuel Nettey tried a long range effort but it dipped late
Aduana Stars had a penalty minutes later when Adjei was felled inside the box by Mohammed Alhassan who picked up a red card for this tackle.
