Breast cancer prevention starts with healthy habits. Some treatments are available to reduce the risk in women who have a higher risk of developing the condition than the general population.
Healthy habits
As said earlier, healthy habits help prevent many conditions including heart disease, diabetes and many forms of cancer. Healthy habit includes regular exercise and a healthy balanced diet. Eating more greens and fish is advisable as compared to meat.
Don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke
The more alcohol you consume, the greater your risk of breast cancer. Tobacco smoke increases the risk of cancer in multiple organs.
Breastfeeding
Childbirth after 30 is a risk factor for breast cancer. Therefore, breastfeeding has health benefits for mother and child including reducing the mother’s risk of breast cancer. Men should also sometimes such their partner’s breast during lovemaking as this also helps reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Maintain a healthy weight
Being overweight and obese can increase the risk of breast cancer. Try to exercise regularly, sleep well and eat only when you are hungry.
Consider genetic testing
When you have a family history of breast cancer then its best you test regularly. Early detection can help prevent cancer from spreading and therefore you be can be cured.
