Ghana’s coach, Chris Hughton, and his support staff are facing frustration and anger due to the inadequate camping facilities for the national team, just 11 days before the kickoff of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The decision to change the camping base from South Africa to Ghana has stirred controversy, and now the repercussions are being felt, with players expressing discontent over the subpar training pitch and overall camp conditions.
The Black Stars initiated their nine-day camp in Kumasi at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, deviating from their original plan to utilize the Baba Yara Stadium for training sessions. Unfortunately, upon inspecting the Baba Yara Stadium’s pitch, deemed crucial for the first training session, the technical staff deemed it unsuitable.
This unexpected setback raised concerns, as the condition of the field was deemed unfit for play. Consequently, the team had to make last-minute adjustments to their training location, impacting their preparations for the prestigious tournament.
