The former president, John Dramani Mahama has said his defeat in the 2016 elections means that it is now ‘draw’ between him and the NPP.
According to him, he defeated Nana Addo in 2012, therefore, his defeat to the president in the 2016 elections means that they now have a tied they need to settle.
Mahama who is currently on a tour in the Eastern Region told the people of Ayensu Ano Constituency That because of the draw, he and Nana Addo ‘must challenge in the Champion of Champions [election 2020]’.
Also, he said that the NPP members do not want him to become the flagbearer of his party because they are afraid of him.
According to him, the NPP members are saying that the NDC should elect a new flagbearer because they have defeated him. He asserted that he should be made the flagbearer because when Nana Addo lost in 2008, he was chosen to lead his party in 2012 and then in 2016.
Mahama who is optimistic is will be given the mandate to lead his party also said ‘whether the NPP likes it or not’ he will be back.
