Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, popularly called Prophet One, has said he does not think the President will support the building of the new parliament.
Speaking on Prophet One TV which was also transmitted on his radio station, New Mercury in Kumasi said he does not understand why they want to build a new parliament when the chamber is most of the time almost empty.
Adding, he said most of the communities in Ghana lack basic amenities like potable water, roads and other things, therefore, the government should rather use the money to provide the people with such amenities.
“Ghana’s parliament is beautiful” than what other countries have, he said, adding that it would have been better for them renovate it instead of spending $200 million on a new Parliament.
“I do not think our leaders said this,” he said.
Ghanaians, after it was reported that the legislature wants a new edifice to be built for them started a social media campaign, Drop That Chamber, to campaign against the construction of a new parliament.
