Black Stars and Hamburger SV forward, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer has revealed an interesting superstition regarding his performance on the field. According to him, he tends to score goals whenever he eats fufu or jollof rice before a game.
In an interview with GhanaWeb, Ransford-Yeboah expressed his fondness for these two local Ghanaian dishes, stating that they are his favorites and that he enjoys them quite often. However, he admitted that he doesn’t know how to prepare them himself and only gets to savor the food when he visits his father in Berlin.
Recalling a specific incident, he mentioned eating fufu at his father’s place in Berlin and subsequently scoring a goal upon his return to Hamburger SV. He shared his experience, saying, “I would say fufu or jollof rice. I can’t cook, my father can. Always when I’m in Berlin, he is cooking for me. But for me, I don’t know how to cook. Two weeks ago, I was in Berlin and I ate fufu, and the next week I scored.”
When asked about his proficiency in any Ghanaian language, Ransford-Yeboah mentioned that he is familiar with a few Twi words at the moment. However, he expressed difficulty in fully grasping the language, stating, “I can’t speak Twi, it’s very difficult for me. I know only a few words like ‘medase’ (Thanks, Thank You), ‘akwaaba’ (Welcome), ‘Ete sen?’ (how are you), but it’s very difficult because I must learn more English before I can learn Twi.”
