Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo on the last day of his tour of the Ashanti Region attended Assembly of God’s Biannual General Meeting on Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology campus in Kumasi.
At the event, the President said he sees “himself as a Christian in politics” and “as someone whose politics is deeply influenced by this Christian values” and wherever he goes, he declares his “Christian faith”.
“Sometimes when I make the statement people come up to me and say be careful you may alienate and I say no I cannot alienate anyone if I declare my faith”,
He thanked the Assemblies of God Church for their contribution to the building of the national cathedral in Accra.
Nana Addo went on and asked for a “partnership between the government and the church to prosecute” a “common agenda of seeking to uplift the moral, political, spiritual and economic life of our people”.
The partnership, he said “will uplift our country and fulfil the word of God and realise the promise of immortality that Christ offered to all true believers”.
He quoted his favourite Bible “passage” to support his statement;” I am the resurrection and the Lord. He so ever believeth in me, thou he were died, yet shall he live. And so ever believeth in me shall never die”.
The partnership, Nana Addo said should be founded on common values of service to mankind, of love and solidarity with our fellow human beings, of truth and honesty and integrity”.
