SWAG President and Host of Sports Highlights on GTV has confirmed he was approached by authorities to head the new Ghana Football Association days before the President, Nana Addo dissolved the GFA.
In his interview on ABN, he stated that although the approach was not official, it was done by people who are very influential in the country.
He declined the offer saying it is not always that you have to be a leader to show your support to an organization because sometimes it is best to stay behind and offer advise to those in power.
The renowned sports journalist moreover sided with those who believe change is needed at the helm of affairs at the GFA.
‘We should go back to the old order where the Vice President of the association was elected’. The new order which was introduced by Nyantakyi according to Kwabena Yeboah makes the GFA President ‘so powerful and so dictatorial and so magisterial to the extent that he does whatever he wants to do’.
Kwabena Yeboah further went on to say that what the government has done or intends to do is a reflection of what Ghanaians want.
‘Ghanaians would have risen against the government if it had taken this decision at the time when Ghanaians loved Nyantakyi’.
‘As soon as this expose happened I thought our friend Nyantakyi would do the decent thing by resigning and that is why last week I went public to advise him it was his in his own interest to step aside’.
‘I am shocked and completely horrified that at this stage he doesn’t see the need to show remorse’, he said.
Kwabena Yeboah, nevertheless, believes the government should make it stand clear as to whether they are taking steps to dissolve the FA or have dissolved it.
