In a recent revelation, renowned Ghanaian highlife musician, Amakye Dede, has disclosed that he was compelled by external forces to confer the title of ‘King of Future Highlife’ on Kuami Eugene.
This revelation comes in the wake of significant criticism directed towards Amakye Dede following the incident, with notable figures in the music industry, including record producer Zapp Mallet, expressing their discontent.
However, during an interview with Asaase radio, Amakye Dede clarified the circumstances surrounding his decision, stating, “Although I went ahead with it, it was not my personal choice. They pressured me into crowning Kuami Eugene.”
To support his statement, the veteran highlife singer revealed that he initially handed over the responsibility of presenting the crown to someone else. However, he was later persuaded to proceed with the act against his own inclination.
Amakye Dede, known for his timeless hits such as “Su fre wo Nyame,” expressed that he reluctantly carried out the gesture under external influence.
