Born on November 2, 2000, at Budumburam, a refugee camp in Ghana to Liberian parents, Bayern Munich defender, Alphonso Davies has said he would give his World Cup earnings to charity.
Davies and his family moved to Canada when he was four years old and the Canadian star believes it is time to give back to the country that has enabled him ‘to live his dreams.’
Davies in a tweet said “Canada welcomed me and my family & gave us the opportunity for a better life. it enabled me to live my dreams. It’s a great honour to play for Canada and I want to give back, so I’ve decided that I will donate this years World Cup earnings to charity.”
The Maple Leafs will be making their second World Cup appearance in Qatar this year since making their first appearance in 1986 in Mexico.
The North American country will be facing 2018 runners-up Croatia, Belgium, and Morocco.
