The head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, C.K Akonnor has said he wishes his player, Fatawu Safiu had made it to the 23-man squad of the Black Stars.
Fatawu and his club teammate, Felix Annan were called to the national team, however, only Annan made it to the 23-man squad.
Fatawu joined his teammates at Mampong to prepare for their match against Accra Hearts of Oak today.
C.K, during an interview on Nhyira FM, said even though he is happy Fatawu has returned to the club, he wishes he was with the Black Stars.
“I’m happy to have Safiu back to the team, I would have wished he joined the Black Stars team to Egypt though he will join the team today ahead of our game against Hearts of Oak,” Akonnor told Nhyira FM.
So far, Safiu has scored 8 goals in 11 matches in the ongoing Normalization Committee Special Competition’s Tier 1 Cup.
