The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has put Imani Center for Policy and Education under heavy fire by describing the think tank as a “shit” tank.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako claims the think tank seems to be a collusion agenda and has always sided with members of the National Democratic Congress against the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
In an interview on Wontumi TV and Radio which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, the NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, stated that “Imani Ghana is a shit tank. What do they do?”
Imani Petitions Otumfuo
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, stated on Wontumi Radio and TV that he couldn’t believe Franklin Cudjoe would ever petition Otumfuo Osei Tutu over the EC’s decision to compile a new voter register after previously disrespecting him.
The NPP Chairman known as Chairman Wontumi explained that “foolishness has taken over the heart” of Franklin Cudjoe and it is for this reason that he has pieced together a petition.
“Franklin Cudjoe is my friend but I can see foolishness has taken over his heart. Just like the Bible says, you have to use a rod to remove the foolishness from the heart of a fool”, Chairman Wontumi explained.
His anger stems from the petition the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the IMANI Center for Policy and Education sent to the respected King.
The protest against the decision by the EC to compile a new Voter Register took a new dimension when two civil society groups sought to rope in the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, to use his office to stop the commission.
Policy think tank IMANI Africa and the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) petitioned the Asantehene and the Asanteman Traditional Council to intervene in the EC decision to compile a new voter register.
The groups say the EC’s decision to compile a new voter register is creating tension in the country, hence the need for the Asantehene to intervene.
“…we want Otumfuo and the council to step in early by calling the EC and the agitated political parties to reach a compromise decision to avert any future disturbances…do not want any Ghanaian to be disenfranchised even if the exercise takes off as planned,” they said.
