“Access to the IMF facility will not spell the immediate end of the difficulties we are in presently, but the fact that we have been able to negotiate such a deal sends a positive message to our trading partners, creditors and investors,” emphasized President Akufo-Addo during a national address on Sunday. He emphasized that while the immediate challenges faced by Ghana will not disappear instantly, the agreement plays a crucial role in restoring confidence and reopening limited opportunities.
President Akufo-Addo further highlighted the significance of the IMF agreement in rejuvenating the Ghanaian economy, which has been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine. He stated, “It should lead to the restoration of confidence and the reopening of opportunities that have been closed to us this past year and a half.” The President emphasized that the deal would also result in the resumption of stalled infrastructure projects.
Acknowledging the need for collective effort, President Akufo-Addo reiterated, “We must all collaborate to ensure the success of this program.” He urged the Ghanaian people to work together towards building a brighter future for the country, emphasizing their crucial role in implementing the necessary reforms for the effectiveness of the IMF deal.
