Brazilian and Manchester City midfielder, Fernandinho has been racially abused by some Brazilian football fans after scoring an own goal in their game against Belgium in the World Cup.
Brazil lost the game 2-1 after Fernandinho’s Manchester City teammate Kevin DeBruyne added a second to put Belgium two goals ahead.

Renato Augusto pulled a goal back in the second half but they could not find a way past the Belgian defence and goalkeeper.

Fernandinho was branded a ‘monkey’ and has also received death threats.
The Brazilian FA, CBF, however, tweeted ‘(We) repudiate the racist attacks suffered by the player @fernandinho and (his relatives). Football represents the union of colors, genres, cultures and peoples. We are with you. Racists will not pass.’
