Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko Assistant coach Johnson Smith has been appointed as the head coach of Bekwai Youth Football Club after his contract with Kotoko expired, PKays Corner reports.
Coach Johnson Smith joins the team with another former Kotoko assistant coach Akakpo Patron who will be working as his assistant.
There are reports in the media that the club belongs to the Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei while other reports indicate the club is for his son Paul Kyei Baffour, a businessman based in the United States.
Coach Johnson was appointed the caretaker of Kotoko from December 2020 to February 2021 before becoming the assistant coach after the appointment of Mariano Barreto.
Johnson Smith and his backroom staff have been tasked with qualifying the team to the country’s top-flight is the target, The Ghana Premier League.
