A Kenyan man has been jailed for 3 years for selling cat meat according to Kenya’s The Daily Nation newspaper.
The man, identified as James Mukangu Kimani said he has been selling cat meat for seven years.
Officers had to save him as he was nearly lynched by an angry crowd when he was caught.
Kenya’s Meat Control Law does not prescribe cat but Kimani has been selling them to people who according to reports sell them as samosas.
Although it is banned in Kenya, it is a delicacy in China, Vietnam, Korea and some parts of West Africa.
James Kimani told reporters that those he sell the meat to have no idea it is cat meat.
According to him, he said decided to sell the meat when he saw the need for it.
Kimani pleaded guilty when he appeared before the court.
