A man in Kenya has sued the country’s Bureaus of Standards and Beta Healthcare over ‘fake’ condom, according to The Star newspaper.
According to the man, the Zoom condom he was using during intercourse burst and it led to him infecting his wife, who after the being infected with a sexually transmitted disease, has left him.
The man said he bought his favourite brand of condom trusting that his partner will appreciate it.
He claims the ‘fake’ condom made him contract the STI and as a result, he also infected his wife.
The man also fears that he has been exposed to the HIV virus, the Star newspaper reports.
“That I was fully aware of the dangers of having unprotected sex and decided to use my favourite brand of condoms being the Zoom scented chocolate flavoured studded condoms which I believed would please the woman and protect me fully,”
“..that whilst I was having sexual intercourse with the woman the said condom broke a fact which I only realised after the act. That at the time, I brushed the incident as a non-issue and three days later I still had sexual intercourse with my wife,” he said.
His wife, he indicated, has left him for another man, he has lost his job and he has also become an alcoholic.
In the affidavit he sworn, the incident, he said happened in 2014 and some of his friends also complained of the same brand of condom bursting while having intercourse.
