Kumasi Asante Kotoko has beaten Etoile Sportive du Sahel 2-0 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary stage at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The Porcupine Warriors scored an early goal through Augustine Okrah’s freekick 3 minutes into the game.
In the 40th minute, Emmanuel Gyamfi was brought down in Etoile’s penalty box but Kotoko’s appeal for a penalty was denied.
Kotoko scored the second goal in the 55th minute through Richard Arthur. Arthur made it two after he beat the offside trap to pounce on Emmanuel Agyemang’s rebound.
Arthur was substituted 7 minutes after scoring and he was replaced by Sogne Yacouba.
Etoile’s goalkeeper, Bdiri Makrem was shown the yellow card in the last minutes of the game for time-wasting.
Kotoko will travel to Tunisia in two weeks-time to play the second.
