Kumasi Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Bechem United 3-1 in their first game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The home side could have gone up in the 10th minute but Emmanuel Gyamfi failed to control Augustine Okrah’s pass and his shot went straight to the goalkeeper.
Ten minutes later Andre Wonta Konkoni gave Bechem United the lead through a header from Augustine Randolf’s corner.
In the 29th minute, Kotoko was awarded a penalty after a Bechem defender appeared to have handled Justice Blay’s header, however, the referee changed his mind.
Kotoko got their equalizer in the 34th minute through Martin Antwi. The ball fell in front of the midfielder after Bechem’s goalkeeper failed to punch the ball Ibrahim Imoro’s corner away.
William Opoku could have made it two for Kotoko after the Bechem goalkeeper failed to catch Okrah’s freekick. The Bechem defenders were quick to react and cleared the ball before Opoku’s header could cross the line.
The Porcupine Warriors kept putting the pressure on Bechem United and in the 45th minute, Augustine Okrah made it 2-1.
Ten minutes into the second half, Ibrahim Imoro’s sublime freekick to the right top corner from the edge of Bechem’s penalty box made it 3-1.
Kotoko held on to the lead and got the three points they need to move to the second position on the table after 12 games with 21 points.
