Asante Kotoko board and management, according to a report by Oyerepa FM, are considering building a stadium using shipping containers like Stadium 974 in Qatar.
Qatar’s Stadium 974 is a 40,000 capacity stadium which will host group and Round of 16 games during the FIFA World Cup next year. 974 shipping containers were used to build the stadium and the number also is the country calling code for Qatar.
There have been reports that Kotoko would want to build at least a 10,000 capacity stadium at the Adako Jachie training grounds, however, due to the money they pay to the National Sports Authority for using the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the club wants is considering building a bigger stadium.
Asante Kotoko is already using shipping containers to build its training complex and it will not be a surprise if the club decide to use the same thing for the stadium.
Albeit Stadium 974 will be dismantled after the World Cup it is not clear if Kotoko will make their permanent should they go ahead and build it.
