Kwame Arhin, a Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan who has been paralyzed since the club’s game against ASEC Mimosa in the CAF Champions League in 1993 will be getting support from some of the fans.
Kotoko was struggling to a goal in the game and the fans believed if the bag is taken from the post, they would be able to score a goal.
Arhin invaded the pitch, took the bag which the fans believed was black magic from the ASEC’s goalkeeper’s post and the goalkeeper chased him for his bag.
Arhin’s sister in an interview on Ashh FM in Kumasi said after the game, the Ivorians attacked his brother who was a taxi brother and since then his life has not been the same.
Arhin’s sister said their mother took care of him until her death ten years ago.
“After my mother’s death, I came [to Kumasi] to take care of him,” she said.
According to her, taking care of her brother has made her husband divorce her because her ex-husband does not understand why she has left their matrimonial home in Accra to take care of his paralyzed brother in Kumasi.
She also added her brother sometimes is able to talk well but most of the time it is hard to hear what he is saying.
This week his story has been headlining lots of sports programs in Kumasi and some fans have started making donations to support him.
Kotoko eliminated ASEC from the competition but lost in the final to Zamalek SC on penalties.
