Asante Kotoko and Ishmael Abdul Ganiyu have reached an agreement to sign a new deal.
Ganiyu’s Kotoko with Kotoko will end in a few months time and there were reports the player was going to join Kotoko’s arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak. The former Karela United star has also beenlinked with a move to Medeama, Legon Cities or a club in the Middle East.
According to a report by Oyerepa Sports, Kotoko and Ganiyu’s representatives are discussing the player’s buyout clause before the contract would be signed.
Though he has been linked with other clubs, Sportsworld Ghana reported in May that the Black Stars centre-back is ready to sign a new deal.
“I am ready to play here and for that matter I am prepared to extend my stay at the club to continue serving because I am at Kotoko to provide services to the great Porcupine family”, he told SportsworldGhana.com.
“I remain a servant of Asante Kotoko and therefore I am waiting for an agreement to be reached between my representatives and the club and when the agreement is reached I will be more than happy to sign and continue to serve the team”, he added.
